Individualised Travel

With over 16 years experience on the ground in Australia and New Zealand and an increasing knowledge of the extended Oceania region of Papua New Guinea, Tahiti and Fiji, A&K has built a strong reputation and network in the region. With a team of passionate and dedicated Travel Specialists and well educated guides on the ground, your visit to Australia & Oceania will be an experience to remember.

Explore the rich culture and landscape of our own backyard with special access to behind-the-scenes opportunities. A&K Insider Access opportunities include a private tour of the extensive Mbantua Galleries with proprietor Tim Jennings in Alice Springs and the chance meet Ken Dalzell in New Zealand for an intimate understanding and appreciation of his love for the green gemstone, Jade.  A&K's Pearl of Wisdom give you insight to some of the hidden secrets only true locals know: the flamboyant Mt Hagen cultural show in PNG; the best time to visit Broome to see the 'Stairway to the Moon' or the secret to discovering the delicious honey of Kangaroo Island. Travelling with A&K close to home enables a more intimate passage into our inspiring region.

When to Go

Covering a wide region, there is always somewhere to escape from the cold or the heat. Anytime is good to travel around Australia or New Zealand with summer (December to February) pleasant in southern Australia and New Zealand. Winter (June to August) offers skiing in the southern parts of Australia and New Zealand while spring and autumn are mild. In PNG the dry season (May to October) is a great time to travel with June to September cooler and drier than average.

A&K Guides

As with all A&K destinations, guides are crucial to the experience of the A&K client. In Melbourne, meet Kenneth Park, a museum/art curator by profession, Kenneth is also widely recognised as a public speaker and lecturer on the cultural landscape. He is widely experienced in fundraising, museum and arts management, public affairs and marketing having worked extensively in both the corporate and public sectors. Kenneth is very active with a wide range of arts organisations and the museum profession, regularly serving on the committees for several professional associations including Museums Australia, International Council of Museums and the Australian Federation of Friends of Museums. He contributes regularly to museum literature. Kenneth's academic qualifications include: a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in political science, a Bachelor of Letters in fine arts and history and a Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies.

A&K Insider Access

Enjoy the fantastic Sophie Ullin as your guide. Her relationship with art was nurtured early, joining her father on outback road trips into Aboriginal Australia's art communities. Sophie went on to co-ordinate specialist Aboriginal Fine Art auctions at Deutscher-Menzies Fine Art Auctioneers, becoming Head of Tribal, Aboriginal and Contemporary Art at Sydney's Lawson-Menzies before she returned to the outback to establish her own independent art advisory service.

A&K Pearls of Wisdom

To climb the world's largest monolith, Uluru, is against the wishes of the Traditional Owners. The path you would otherwise follow is the sacred route taken by the ancestral Mala (rufous hare-wallaby men) on their arrival at this special place. Subsequently, a base walk will offer deeply personal, moving and lasting experience and does not interfere with traditional beliefs.

Quality time spent with family is increasingly hard to find. An A&K holiday delivers the perfect opportunity: a journey which lets children learn about the wider world in beautiful locations and parents comfortable in the knowledge that someone else is in charge.

Honeymoon  Honeymoon

To help you decide on the perfect way to celebrate one of life's most important accomplishments we're making it easy by identifying journeys close to home for that special occasion.

Active Active

Being active on a holiday often clears the mind and often lets you see the destination in a new light. Without being hard core adventure trips these journeys offer an active component be it hiking, snorkelling, quadbiking, boating or horse riding.

Food Food

Essential to our daily well being and close to our hearts, the Australian obsession with food grows ever stronger. New flavours, chefs, culinary trends and eateries all fuel this fascination and so there are journeys which make the most of our vibrant culinary scene and award winning produce.

Wine  Wine

Blessed with a climate, soil and topography that lends itself to the growing of grapes and production of wine, there are many parts of Australia worth visiting for their fine vintages and varietal characteristics. Our journeys incorporate private tastings, encounters with wine makers and vineyard tours.

Culture  Culture

Incorporating elements of cultural interest to a journey adds a fascinating perspective to any destination. It allows a broader understanding of communities, their heritage, social patterns and inspirations. It encompasses art, theatre, music, architecture, religion, indigenous customs and ethnic traditions.
