Day 1 - Bagdogra - Darjeeling
Arrive Bagdogra and drive straight to Darjeeling in the foothills of the Himalaya (93 Kms / 3 hrs approx) and your base at the charming Glenburn Tea Estate. Inspired by the vineyards of Europe, the Prakash family opened their 1600 acre plantation in the beautiful Darjeeling hills to guests in 2002. Glenburn is a fully functional tea estate employing over 1000 estate workers and producing quality tea that is sold in various outlets all over the country (D).

Days 2 - 3 - Darjeeling

At Glenburn guests enjoy unobtrusive and impeccable service, meal times are a delight - a mix of local Nepali, Indian and continental flavours with fresh herbs from Glenburn's organic garden and freshly baked produce.

The guided Tea Tour is a must. This full day programme visits the tea gardens while picking is in progress. See the workers carrying wicker baskets on their back while picking the 'two and a bud' with practised ease. You are accompanied by an estate guide who shares the story of the tea, the varieties, the plantation, the pruning and the basic process. A picnic lunch on the banks of the river Rung Dung is followed by a visit to the factory to see the subsequent steps in tea making from weighing to sorting. The tour ends with a ceremonious tea tasting to acquaint you with the subtle aromas, taste and colour of various varieties of tea grown on the estate.

Glenburn also arranges nature and bird walks through private forest areas and along the river as well as day trips to Darjeeling and Kalimpong (B,L,D).
