Sanctuary’s private camping itineraries are tailor-made to your own preferences and can include any combination of mobile tented camps, permanent safari camps and bush lodges. A&K has rights to camp on a private basis in some of Africa’s most beautiful and game-rich territories: in and adjacent to Kenya’s Masai Mara; Samburu and Amboseli reserves; within the Laikipia region; on the slopes of Mount Kenya; and, in Tanzania, the Serengeti, Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
The Experience
Each exclusive private camp is erected in a manner that ensures personalised service and absolute privacy in prime locations for wildlife-viewing. Imagine waking to an early-morning cup of tea or coffee delivered by your personal butler while a herd of zebra grazes on the plains beyond! Gourmet meals and fine wines from the bush kitchen are a highlight, served al fresco or in the traditional mess tent, complete with crisp linen tablecloths, white china and fine crystal glassware. Your safari guide will design each day according to your pace in a private A&K 4WD LandCruiser. A private mobile safari is the ideal choice for groups of friends and families with older children.
Safari Escort
One of A&K’s finest naturalist guides accompanies you throughout your trip and you will be well taken care of at camp with a staff-to-client ratio of approximately 2:1.
Recommended Stay
Itineraries on private camping safaris are flexible. Private camps are available for as few as two or three nights when incorporated into a five-night safari. You can choose one or more locations, with a permanent lodge or camp in between. Your private camp is relocated during this time.
Dining
Some of the finest in Africa: your personal chef never ceases to surprise with original recipes and only the freshest ingredients used to create camp cuisine from the well-equipped bush kitchen. Whilst you are camping, all meals, beverages (except Champagne and premium spirits) are included.
Tents
All our large East African style custom-made walk-in tents are light, airy and spacious, with en suite bathrooms. They are tastefully appointed with twin or king beds, mosquito nets, crisp linen, warm blankets or duvets and hot water bottles for chilly nights. Framed pictures and local wall-hangings, Persian rugs, bedside tables, wardrobes and luggage racks make your tent a true ‘home away from home’. Lighting is solar powered and the bathroom comes complete with a dressing table and fully-plumbed washbasin, toilet and shower. Hot water is available throughout the day and evening. Laundry, morning tea - in fact, your every need - will be taken care of by your personal attendant.
Transport
You will travel in a custom-built 4WD LandCruiser with guaranteed window seats and access to photographic roof hatches, driven by an accomplished driver/guide.
