Day 1 Arrive Johannesburg
Enjoy a personal A&K welcome to the safari gateway of Southern Africa, and assistance to your airport hotel.
InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo (Standard Room)
Day 2 Johannesburg – Maun – Okavango Delta
Early this morning, return independently to the international terminal. Your flight* takes you to Maun in the northern regions of Botswana, where you will connect to your light aircraft flight into the heart of the Okavango Delta, with its network of lagoons, channels, palm islands and floodplains. Take some time to settle into your luxurious surrounds before embarking on your first afternoon game viewing activity (B,L,D).
Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp (Safari Tent) or Sanctuary Baines’ Camp (Luxury Suite)
Day 3 Okavango Delta
The day is yours to discover the pristine beauty of the Okavango Delta and its extraordinary wildlife. You may take a morning or afternoon game drive on the grassy plains to observe buffalo, elephant, giraffe or perhaps lion, leopard or cheetah; glide along the waterways by mokoro (seasonal), experiencing the solitude of the Delta as your safari guide gently poles you through the channels; or take a guided safari walk to discover the significance of the area’s natural wonders. You can also spend a morning with the semi-habituated elephants Jabu, Thembi and Morula, observing their traits and behaviour up close in their natural environment (additional cost) (B,L,D).
Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp (Safari Tent) or Sanctuary Baines’ Camp (Luxury Suite)
Day 4 Okavango Delta
Fly across the Delta to Sanctuary Chief’s Camp with its luxury bush pavilions, situated in the world-renowned Mombo Concession, Africa’s “predator capital” (B,L,D).
Sanctuary Chief’s Camp (Luxury Bush Pavilion)
Days 5 – 6 Okavango Delta
Take two days to further explore the spectacular Okavango Delta. Each day brings a choice of activity. There are morning or afternoon game drives with your expert safari guide providing exciting photographic opportunities; or, during the flood season, a gentle mokoro ride through the waterways. Wildlife here is exceptional, with opportunities of seeing rhino, leopard, giraffe, elephant, buffalo, zebra, antelope - and for the keen birder, a wonderful variety of avian species. Your stay at Sanctuary Chief’s Camp includes a private presentation on the unique eco-system of the Okavango Delta (B,L,D).
Sanctuary Chief’s Camp (Luxury Bush Pavilion)
Day 7 Okavango Delta – Chobe National Park
Leave the fascinating wetlands and fly into the semi-arid Chobe National Park, famous for its massive herds of elephant and buffalo (B,L,D).
Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero (Luxury Cottage)
Day 8 Design Your Day Chobe National Park
This is the second largest park in Botswana, with much territory to explore. Choose two of the following activities: a half-day 4WD game drive traversing the park’s diverse landscapes; a visit to the local AKP supported Plateau Primary School where you can mingle with members of the local community; the highly-recommended afternoon boat safari on the Chobe River, watching the elephants come down to the river to drink and bathe as the sun sets; or a pampering spa treatment at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero’s world class Spa (additional cost) (B,L,D).
Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero (Luxury Cottage)
Day 9 Chobe National Park – Kasane or Victoria Falls
Bid a reluctant farewell to Botswana as your safari ends with a transfer to Kasane airport and a flight to Livingstone, Zambia (B).
