Day 02 Nairobi – Samburu

Larsens Tented Camp

Days 03 – 04 Samburu

Over the next two days explore the Samburu National Reserve, situated on the banks of the Ewaso Ngiro River in the dry northern reaches of Kenya. The presence of the river - and its shady trees - attracts plenty of wildlife: giraffe, buffalo, waterbuck and zebra from the surrounding savannah plains trek to the water to drink. Lion, leopard and cheetah are also quite easy to spot, thanks in part to the lack of grass cover. Samburu is also home to large herds of elephants, and the reserve is well known for providing the opportunity to see wildlife that only lives in the dry north of Kenya. For birders, around 365 species have been recorded and the river area is particularly rewarding. There are birds and vervet monkeys everywhere and dik diks wander freely around the camp. From the animal viewing platform in the trees you can also scan the vast Samburu plain (B,L,D).
Larsens Tented Camp

Day 05 Samburu – Masai Mara

Fly south to the endless plains of the famous Masai Mara. The wide open spaces lend themselves to game viewing, which is why this reserve is one of the most well regarded for wildlife in all of Africa. This afternoon take a game drive in a specially adapted 4WD vehicle. Prepare to be amazed. This evening relax on your verandah with its unique view of the Mara plains and watch the many wild animals that come to the waterhole (B,L,D).
Saruni Camp

Days 06 – 07 Masai Mara

The Masai Mara is a photographer’s dream with lion, elephant, buffalo, cheetah and the graceful Maasai giraffe all resident. Spend the next two days on safari with morning and afternoon game viewing activities. The vast rolling hills of the Masai Mara make spotting game a little easier, with lion, cheetah and elephant all resident in the area. Whilst staying at Saruni you will also have to opportunity to visit Maasai villages and homes to see how they live, why they protect the environment and in what way they are different from the other African tribes (B,L,D).
Saruni Camp

Day 08 Masai Mara – Nairobi

This morning depart the Masai Mara and fly back to Nairobi where you say Kwaheri (good-bye) to Kenya (B)
