& I awoke to a delicious cup of tea on my verandah outside my canvas tent and as the mist rose from the marsh I saw a herd of zebra grazing in the distance. Pure isolation and a sense of community all at once.
Individualised Travel
Established in Nairobi in 1962, A&K is the original safari company. Now with nine offices across the continent, A&K has long established relationships with hotel operators from Nairobi to Cape Town allowing us to offer immediate check-in, the most desirable room categories, the best game-viewing locations, especially for A&K clients. In addition A&K’s professionally educated guides and drivers will ensure your African experience is one you’ll never forget.
Africa offers travellers a wealth of unimaginable riches: from the Okavango Delta, an inland maze of waterways that attracts the Big Five; scenic Cape Town with the spectacular backdrop of Table Mountain; to the cradle of humanity, Kenya, with the annual mass migration of wildebeest. Travel through Africa with A&K and you will enjoy unique Insider Access experiences including behind the scenes at the Cynthia Moss Elephant Research Facility at Amboseli National Park and interaction with the children at AKP’s sponsored school in Botswana.
When to Go
South Africa as a travel destination is exceptional all year round. It offers wildlife, scenery, mountains, culture, beaches and excellent cuisine with some of the best wines in the world. Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya are also year-round destinations for both exceptional game viewing and spectacular scenery. East Africa’s greatest attraction is the annual wildebeest migration between the Serengeti in Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Kenya (June – September). Botswana is best visited between May and October, whilst Zambian wildlife is best viewed between April and November.

A&K drivers and guides undergo rigorous selection, achieving an outstanding knowledge of local culture, language and wildlife. A&K uses experienced, English-speaking guides whose education, field experience and personal accomplishments make them ideal interpreters and companions. In East Africa our guides also graduate from a dedicated guide training school. A&K’s Private Label Guides are ideal for families or groups of friends. An outstanding example is Gavin Ford. Born and raised in Eastern Zimbabwe, Gavin has been actively involved in all aspects of safaris for over 20 years and has personally lead over 2000 safaris, which include extended hiking trails, walking safaris, customised camping and lodge combinations, fly-in safaris as well as boat trips.

Visit Cynthia Moss's Elephant Research Facility at Amboseli National Park. In Tanzania explore dig sites made famous by Mary and Louis Leakey's discovery of fossil fragments. In Southern Africa visit the home of local resident, Farieda Zaindeen for a Cape Malay tea and interact with local children at A&K's sponsored Plateau Primary School, whilst in Chobe, Botswana.

Koiyaki Guiding School
At Ol Seki Mara Camp visit the Koiyaki Guiding School. A facility funded by the EU, local Maasai communities, various charities and the tourism industry, it seeks to provide education to local Maasai school leavers wishing to gain qualifications as professional safari guides.
