Africa
Immerse yourself in a world of unimaginable riches from the teeming wildlife of the Okavango Delta, an inland maze of waterways, to scenic Cape Town with its magnificent backdrop of Table Mountain, and the great plains of Kenya and Tanzania. Travel through Africa with A&K and you will experience unique Insider Access opportunities: in South Africa, visit the inspirational Peninsula Feeding programme and interact with local children at A&K's sponsored Gijedabung Primary School near Tarangire National Park, Tanzania.
50 years of travel with A&K - Experience Counts
Established in Nairobi in 1962, A&K is the original safari company. With 10 offices in East and Southern Africa, A&K has a broad-reaching network which has enabled a breadth of invaluable relationships throughout the continent. This delivers benefits to our guests such as immediate check-in, the most sought-after room categories and the best locations for game viewing.
A&K specialises in luxury travel for discerning guests and expertly designs holidays to match. It does not compromise by lessening standards to capture a broader audience, and the quality and range of our accommodation, services and special experiences is unparalleled.
Individualised travel, tailor-made for you
There are no set departures on itineraries in Africa. Each is designed to give you maximum flexibility. You travel at your own pace with your chosen companion and your own guide.
The service begins with an A&K airport welcome, assistance with luggage and transportation by 4WD LandCruiser or private air-conditioned chauffeured vehicle. Your guide conducts shared game drives and sightseeing and is your key contact on the ground. Well-equipped 4WD LandCruisers are used on safari throughout Africa. You can expect friendly and efficient service at your chosen hotels, the most suitable rooms booked and pre-registration organised, worrisome extras taken care of and someone on call 24/7.
When to go?
South Africa is an exceptional destination year round. Namibia also offers perennial attractions with the dry months of September and October peak times for wildlife. Kenya and Tanzania have outstanding game viewing and spectacular scenery year round, the region’s greatest attraction being the annual wildebeest migration between the Serengeti and the Masai Mara (June – September). Botswana is best visited between May and October, whilst Zambian wildlife is best viewed between April and November. Travel is best in Uganda and Rwanda between June and September.
Family
Quality time spent with family is increasingly hard to find. An A&K holiday delivers the perfect opportunity: this is a bespoke journey tailored to your needs letting children learn about the wider world in beautiful locations, parents relaxing in the knowledge that someone else is in charge, home comforts in hand-picked lodgings, fun and adventure for young and old alike.
Many lodges in Africa accept children of all ages, in particular South Africa. A&K’s family favourites in Africa include the ‘Family Adventure in South Africa’, Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge, Royal Madikwe, Mala Mala, Babylonstoren and Tswalu.

A&K drivers and guides undergo a rigorous selection process, and demonstrate an outstanding knowledge of local culture, language and wildlife. A&K uses accomplished English-speaking guides whose education, field experience and personal attributes make them ideal interpreters and companions. An outstanding example is Tony Staadecker. An ardent traveller and nature lover with a curious sense of adventure, Tony was inspired to make a career change. Armed with a tourism certification, he sold his photographic and video business in 1997 and became a tour director. For 11 years he has shared his experience and interest in photography, birding, animals and fynbos with A&K travellers throughout southern Africa.
