Day 1 Arrive Amman

Enjoy a personal A&K welcome to Jordan’s capital Amman, and private transfer to your hotel.
Intercontinental Amman (Executive Club Room)

Day 2 Design Your Day Amman

Today you will discover the modern, bustling city of Amman, known historically as Rabbath-Ammon and in Graeco-Roman times as Philadelphia. Take in the city sights with a morning visit to the National Archaeological Museum, the Roman Theatre and the Darat al Funun arts centre. Also visit AKP’s school rehabilitation initiative, ‘Madrasati’.

Tailor your afternoon to suit by choosing one of the following activities: a traditional falafel lunch at Jabal Amman followed by a private guided walk of ancient Amman’s streets; or an excursion north out of the city to the ancient Roman city of Jerash to explore one of the most well-preserved ancient Roman cities in the world. This afternoon/evening you have a choice: visit the Pasha Turkish Baths for a perfect pampering antidote to relax you after your day of sightseeing. Try a Jordanian cooking lesson with a difference at Beit Sitti.  Or experience the warm hospitality of a Jordanian family for dinner (B,D).
Intercontinental Amman (Executive Club Room)

Day 3 Amman-Petra

Travel south along the King’s Highway, an ancient trade route and today an important access point for many historic sites. Visit the Christian town of Madaba to see the beautiful mosaics, Mt. Nebo with its spectacular views of the Jordan Valley, and the ancient crusader castle of Kerak before arriving at Petra (B,L).
Petra Movenpick Hotel (Junior Suite)

Day 4 Petra

A full day allows you much-needed time to savour the many wonders of the ancient ‘Rose- Red City’, whose tombs, temples and exquisite monuments are hewn from solid mountain rock. Sights include the Treasury, accessed through the narrow ‘siq’; the Roman Theatre; the Corinthian and Palace Tombs; and the Roman Road. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to climb the 1,200 steps to the impressive Monastery with spectacular views over Petra and the Negev Desert. This evening you may choose to learn to cook Arabian dishes alongside local women at the Petra Kitchen (dinner included), or return to Petra’s ancient city to view it under lights (Monday & Thursday only) (B,L).
Petra Movenpick Hotel (Junior Suite)

Day 5 Design Your Day Petra – Dead Sea

More time in the surrounds of this ancient world wonder will deepen your appreciation. Choose one of the following activities: travel to the Dana Nature Reserve, where you will spend a couple of hours hiking the guided nature trail; visit Wadi Rum with its huge mountains of sandstone and narrow canyons for a 4WD excursion; spend another morning exploring Petra, including a visit to the home of a Bedouin family for a traditional Arabic coffee; or visit Bethany, on the east bank of the Jordan River, an ancient baptismal site. This afternoon, travel on to the Dead Sea (B).
Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea (Ishtar Superior Room)

Day 6 Dead Sea

A day to yourself at the Dead Sea. At 410m below sea level, this is the lowest point on earth! For millennia people have been coming here, drawn by the medicinal qualities of the mineral-laden waters, and swimming here, with its queer sensation of weightlessness, is a memorable experience. A serene, beautiful place, the high levels of salt in the water keep the body afloat, whilst the variety of minerals including magnesium, sodium, potassium and bromine is believed to promote good health (B).
Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea (Ishtar Superior Room)

Day 7 Dead Sea-Amman

Today A&K returns you to Amman airport and waves good-bye (B).

A&K Pearls of Wisdom

Located over 400m below sea level, the Dead Sea attracts many in search of its curative secrets. With the highest concentration of minerals and salts in the world, the water of the Dead Sea possesses anti-inflammatory properties, and the dark mud of its shores has been used for over 2000 years for therapeutic purposes. Soak in the soothing waters of the private beach of The Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea, or enjoy a treatment at the Anantara Spa.

AKP Madrasati 'My School' Initiative

‘Madrasati’ – translated as “my school” – is an innovative venture in Jordan that brings together private, public and non-profit sectors to benefit public schools desperately in need of assistance. AKP has ‘adopted’ the Balquees School, located near the Citadel in Amman. With your support, AKP seeks to provide a vastly better learning environment for the children, addressing urgently-needed school infrastructure repairs and improving school safety as well as aiming to provide access to modern, high-quality learning and teaching tools. Visiting guests are encouraged to interact with the children in class or at play, inviting a cultural connection. Much-needed donations of books, school supplies and sports equipment for the students are also provided.
