Day 01 Arrive Muscat

Welcome to the hidden gem of Arabia! Private transfer to your hotel, situated on a sandy cove surrounded by the dark and majestic Hajar Mountains.

Day 02 Muscat

Today enjoy a morning city sightseeing of the enchanting port city of Muscat, beginning with the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, a religious landmark and splendid example of Islamic architecture. Visit Bait Al Zubair, formerly a private home and now a showcase for traditional Omani crafts and culture and the prestigious Bait Muzna gallery. The remainder of the day is at leisure (B).

Day 03 Muscat-Sur

Drive southeastward along the stunning coast dotted with white beaches and coves of turquoise waters. En route visit Wadi Shab, a date palm oasis beside the ocean, backed by stunning mountains. After a picnic lunch, continue the journey to Sur, a coastal town where traditional Arabian ocean-going dhows are still built in the traditional manner. This evening an option to visit the nearby turtle nesting area at Ras Al Jinz, where, in the company of a ranger, you can watch the sea turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs (B,L).

Day 04 Sur-Wahiba Sands

This morning visit the dhow yards to observe the construction of these traditional Arabic vessels. Enjoy lunch in a traditional seafood restaurant before departing for the Wahiba Sands, a pocket of red dunes nestled between the Gulf of Oman, the Eastern Hajar range and the Jiddat Al Harassis. As you enter the Wahiba Sands, stop to visit the local Bedouins, and enjoy a cup of traditional Arabic coffee, the welcome drink of the Middle East. Tonight stay at a traditional style Bedouin camp (B,L,D).

Day 05 Wahiba Sands – Jebel Shams - Nizwa

Today travel to the rugged interior and Jebel Shams, the highest mountain of the Jebel Al Akhdar range at over 3000m. The gravel road leading to Jebel Shams traverses some spectacular scenery. From the top, it is an almost vertical drop to the wadi floor 1000m below. In Al Hamra, stroll through a traditional date farm and observe old falaj irrigation systems still in use today. After lunch continue to Nizwa, the former capital of Oman (B,L).

Day 06 Nizwa – Al Bahla – Jabrin – Muscat

Begin the day exploring spectacular Nizwa fort, constructed by Sultan bin Saif in 1660. Visit the traditional souk renowned for its silver, brass and copper craftsmanship. Returning to Muscat visit the village of Bahla en route, known for its pottery making and indigo dyeing and Jabrin Castle. Your Oman adventure ends with a transfer to the airport (B,L)
