Khasab 3

Day 1 Dubai – Khasab

Upon arrival at Dubai International Airport, you will be met and transferred across the Omani border to Khasab, on the beautiful and isolated Musandam Peninsula. Jutting out into the Strait of Hormuz at the entrance to the Persian Gulf, the Musandam lies at the most northern tip of the Sultanate of Oman, separated from the rest of Oman by a thin strip of land belonging to the United Arab Emirates. The Musandam is defined by rugged coastal mountains cut by the dark waters of the deep water fjords that earn the peninsula its nickname “Norway of the Middle East”. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure.

Day 2 Khasab

Enjoy a pleasant full day dhow cruise around the fjords, visiting Telegraph Island and sailing past tiny fishing hamlets clinging to the massive cliffs. A picnic lunch will be served onboard (B,L).

Day 3 Khasab

Today tour Khasab, including the market area where an active trade goes on with Iranian merchants and the Khasab Fort, built by the Portuguese in 16th century. Continue to the village of Qada in Wadi Tawi, where pre-historic rock art can be seen. After time for lunch, travel inland to the rugged coastal mountains which rise upward from the sea dramatically. The highest point in the Musandam is Jebal Harim (Mountain of Women), which rises to over 2000m only 12km from the coast (B)
