Day 01 Arrive Leh (3,500M)
Arrive in Leh, capital of Ladakh, once a major stop on the Silk Road. Stroll through the main bazaar and expore Chang Gali, full of bustling shops and artisan stalls, where precious stones, carved yak-horn boxes and other crafts are sold. Observe the city’s fascinating mix of ethnic cultures, set amidst Buddhist temples and mosques and the crumbling edifice of Leh Palace. Afterwards a drive up to Shanti Stupa, a Japanese peace pagoda, for spectacular views of the Indus Valley (L,D).

Day 02 River Indus Monasteries
An early morning drive to Thiksey monastery to witness the monks gathered in the assembly hall for the morning prayer ceremony. After breakfast, drive to Hemis monastery, the largest in Ladakh. The annual Hemis festival is the most famous of the monastic festivals in this region. Every 12 years, a huge Thangka (religious painting), is ritually exhibited. Continue on to Shey palace, seat of power of the first king of Ladakh. This evening you are treated to a talk by local expert on eco-awareness in the region .B,L,D).

Day 03 Leh - Alchi - Leh
This morning you are driven west to the remote village of Alchi and its famous monastery. Built during the 11th century, the monastery has a unique style combining both Tibetan and Kashmiri art (B,L,D).

Day 04 Depart Leh
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight (B).

Shanti Stupa
Enjoy a cup of steaming Hot Kawa Tea, a Kashmiri beverage made from cardamom, and cinamon, and cookies when you visit Shanti stupa.
