Brazil | Anavilhanas Lodge
This lodge is a series of suspended wooden structures built in keeping with the local style using natural materials. There are just 16 airconditioned suites all with private verandah and ensuite bathrooms. Wildlife guides are all locals from the area who conduct expeditions by boat, canoe and on foot. There are also village visits and fishing for piranha. Access by seaplane from Manaus.

Located in the remote Yasuni National Park east of Quito, there are 10 simple but well-equipped cabanas, each with private balcony and views of the Amazon. The local Anangu community built the lodge and profits go back into the community and towards the preservation of the Amazon. Jungle excursions are conducted by experienced naturalist guides with activities including fishing trips, excursions to nearby parrot licks, dugout canoe trips and rainforest walks. There are 33 thatched cabañas built from local materials with ensuite bathroom, lighting by kerosene lamp and each with private verandah. Activities include wildlife excursions with naturalist guides, wilderness trails, canopy walks, local community visits, fishing, a trip to Lake Sandoval, birdwatching and caiman spotting.
Wildlife: endangered giant river otter, red howler monkeys, macaws, sloths, caimans, turtles. Accessible by air from Cusco.
