Day 01 Santiago – Colchagua Valley
Journey south by private car with your guide into Chile’s prime wine growing region, the Colchagua Valley. Unspoilt and set against an Andean backdrop, the cool climate and terroir is perfectly suited to the production of full-bodied red wines. First stop is at Altair in the Cachapoal Valley, a Grand Cru cellar where your host explains the techniques employed in the creation of its two feature wines. Sample both for their distinct characteristics. Viu Manent vineyard is also included with wine tasting and appreciation (L,D).

Day 02 Colchagua Valley
A chance to experience local huaso (cowboy) culture at Hacienda Lolol, a beautiful country estate set amidst mountain scenery. Ride around the estate or hike to nearby ruins before a stop at the Museum of Colchagua, one of Chile’s largest and most impressive private collections of palaeontological and archaeological artefacts and pre-Hispanic art. Late in the afternoon visit a traditional adobe house and meet the owners, small scale producers of organic liqueurs made from local fruits, nuts and herbs. We recommend a taste, for medicinal reasons only! (B,L,D).

Day 3 Santa Cruz – Santiago
Take your time this morning before visiting Vina Montes whose award-winning winemaker, Aurelio Montes, is considered by many as the country’s best. Return to the capital after lunch (B,L).
