Like the continent itself, weather patterns throughout South America vary dramatically. Peru and Ecuador are year-round destinations with rains Dec-Mar. The Galapagos Islands are predominantly warm and dry. In the south, Argentina and Chile also are year-round destinations with warm-hot summers (Jan-Mar) especially in the north and cold winters, particularly at higher altitudes.
