Day 01 Weipa – Flinders Beach
Be met at Weipa airport and transferred to the Western Cape Cultural Centre, highlighting the indigenous significance of this special region. Gain insight into the politics, history and role of the Cape. Transfer to Mapoon and then 4WD into tented Camp Chivaree on the banks of Janie Creek. Stylish yet simple accommodation, each tent has two camp beds, a share toilet and a heated bush shower. Take the dinghy to Flinders Beach turtle research station where you will 4WD up and down the 24km stretch of beach to spot turtles, watch them lay and record you research data before heading back to camp for dinner (L,D).

Day 02 Flinders Beach
Enjoy a camp breakfast before embarking on today's turtle research adventure. This morning search for nest eruptions and record data of hatchlings, roll up your sleeves to help rangers clear the beach of ghost nets as well as assisting them with Predator Exclusion Devices (PED's). After lunch back at camp, the afternoon is at leisure to explore. Choose from the following optional activities: bush tucker walks, fishing in Janie Creek or relaxing. Early evening may also inspire some final dusk research (B,L,D).

Hone your turtle research skills and deepen your understanding of the importance of the work as you become more involved in this unique environment over the course of another day (B,L,D).

Day 04 Flinders Beach – Aurukun Wetlands
Bid farewell to Camp Chivaree and transfer to Mapoon Airstrip for your chartered flight down the stunning coast of the Western Cape to Aurukun. Your A&K guide will meet you at the airport and deliver you to the MV Pikkuw on the Aurukan Wetlands. The 12 metre catamaran was built in 2005 and sleeps eight people in air-conditioned comfort. After a briefing with the crew, cruise into the river systems that make up these beautiful wetlands. You will be touched by the pristine wonderland of one of Australia's best kept secrets; abundant birdlife, stunning scenery, and perhaps a crocodile on the banks. Dinner is served on board before you retire for the night (B,D).

Day 05 Design Your Day Aurukan Wetlands
Awaken to the dawn chorus of the Aurukun Wetlands and rise to take full vantage of your surrounds with breakfast on the top deck. Members of the local community will arrive to host your day. Taking into account the boat's positioning on this day, choose how you wish to explore: take one of three tenders from the MV Pikkuw; harvest native bush honey; or swim in a sublime natural water hole complete with waterfall. Lunch is served on the banks of the river or on the MV Pikkuw. After lunch, talk to the locals before embarking on a night time crocodile spotting adventure (B,L,D).

Day 06 Aurukan Wetlands
This morning you will cruise to a beautiful part of the river where members of the indigenous community invite you to a traditional kup murrie (earth oven cooked meal). Feast on the river bank alongside the traditional owners of this magnificent land. Back on board, enjoy a late afternoon fish before dinner (B,L,D).

Day 07 Aurukun Wetlands
An early morning bird encounter preludes one last trip in the tenders or a final crocodile and wildlife search. After breakfast, return to the Aurukun landing and on to the airstrip to board your chartered flight to Weipa airport for onward departure (B).
