Day 01 Auckland – Rotorua
Arrive in Auckand to meet your A&K guide before connecting to Rotorua. Collect your vehicle with directions to Peppers On the Point. Enjoy the sunset overlooking historic Lake Rotorua and Mokoia Island. Dinner is served at Peppers On the Point. The property enjoys spectacular panoramic views and rich stories, having once been a Maori Pa site, the land is steeped in local history of ancient battles, love and life (D).

Day 02 Rotorua
Visit Te Puia, New Zealand's Maori Culture Centre. Joined by your Guide, discover Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve where thermal activity produces geysers, boiling mud and silica terraces. Drive to Rainbow Spring to relax in the crystal clear water. Enjoy the tranquillity of the crystal clear cold water that flows tirelessly from the subterranean springs. Visit Kiwi Encounter for A&K's exclusive behind the scenes tour to learn about the unique animal, its origins and habitat. After lunch visit the Rotorua Museum which houses exhibits devoted to the 1886 eruption of Mt. Tarawera, a nearby dormant volcano (B,D).

Day 03 Rotorua – Waitomo – Taupo
Enjoy the picturesque drive from Rotorua to Waitomo. In Waitomo, tour the glowworm museum and explore the limestone caves including the Tomo - a deep shaft that falls away to darkness. Experience a silent boat trip through the glowworm grotto, gliding beneath the eerie lights suspended from the cave ceiling. Continue to Taupo and settle into Huka Lodge, nestled into 17 acres of parkland on the banks of the Waikato River (B,D).

Day 04 Design Your Day Taupo
Today, choose from a variety of activities including a visit to Huka Falls; or take a two hour walk along the beautiful river. Enjoy an optional Jet Boat adventure along the Waikato River to view the spectacular Huka Falls from a different perspective (B,D).

Day 05 Depart Taupo
Return your vehicle at Taupo airport before flying to Auckland for your homeward journey.

The Kiwi Encounter
The Kiwi Encounter tour offers an upclose experience of this iconic species. Visit the incubation room, the Kitchen where the artificial diet for young kiwis is prepared and continue to the nursery room filled with breeding units. Housing kiwi chicks until they are approximately 400 gms in weight, the chicks are then moved to outdoor enclosures to grow to 1.2kg. Enter the indoor nocturnal area with no partitions between the kiwi birds and you!
