Daily Activity
Complementing the natural beauty of the river is a rich programme of shore excursions and shipboard activities which highlight the wealth of China’s cultural tradition as well as the river’s history and ecology. Tai Chi classes, Chinese cooking and silk embroidery are just some of the diversions available while children are well catered for too with kite flying, mask making and calligraphy on offer.
In between activities the tranquil spa beckons. Six treatment rooms and an inviting menu of relaxing and rejuvenating indulgences. There’s also a fitness centre, sauna and beauty salon.
Luxury On Board
Occupying four decks, accommodation onboard includes the largest and most exquisitely appointed cabins on the river. Each cabin boasts floor to ceiling picture windows, private balconies and en suite bathroom. Dining on board is a delight with a team of internationally trained chefs delivering innovative a la carte menus featuring the finest of Chinese and continental cuisine served with complimentary house wines and other refreshments at lunch and dinner. There is an espresso bar and special menus for vegetarians and children.
Families
The specially tailored ‘Summer Camp’ welcomes families on four night cruises upstream from Yichang to Chongqing through the fabled Three Gorges with exciting activities planned to keep all entertained – young and old alike. There is a photographic scavenger hunt, calligraphy classes, movie nights, mask painting, introductory Mandarin, cooking lessons, a Chinese banquet and early morning Tai Chi.

Guests in suites onboard Sanctuary Yangzi Explorer have exclusive access to the Suite lounge with unlimited use of lounge computer and internet, all day hot and cold beverage service, canapés & snacks served all day, house wine & local beer pre-dinner. The Three Gorges
The most celebrated stretch of the Yangzi is the spectacular Three Gorges where A&K uniquely tailors shore excursions a fully qualified Chinese guide to avoid the crowds. Highlights include the ancient river town of Wanzhou and a trip into the nearby countryside, a school visit, the crystal clear waters of Shennong Stream and a traditional sampan ride. Qutang Gorge is the shortest and narrowest of the three while Wu is characterised by majestic forest crowned peaks. Xiling, the longest, is an enchanting scenic passage, which finishes at the Three Gorges Dam, the largest construction project ever undertaken.
