Accommodation
Onboard there are 66 lavishly appointed compartments for just 132 passengers. All with cherry wood and elm burr panelled walls, inlaid woodwork, antique brass fittings, crisp white linen and en suite bathrooms. There are three cabin categories: Pullman, State and Presidential with full air-conditioning and large picture windows for excellent views. The bathroom comprises an en suite shower, washbasin and WC. Cabins feature the personal service of a 24-hour steward, safe and hairdryer. Guests in Presidential Suites enjoy the additional benefit of a complimentary bar in their cabin.Dining & Bar
There are two Restaurant Cars and internationally renowned chefs deliver a tantalising variety of Eastern and European dishes for lunch and dinner, using the finest fresh seasonal ingredients. Breakfast is delivered to guests’ compartments.The Bar Car is perfect for relaxing and sharing tales of the day’s activities with fellow passengers. This journey takes you out onto the dramatic plains of Thailand’s remote north-east travelling past farmland and forested valleys. Visit the Angkor-style temple of Phimai en route and arrive where the Mekong separates Thailand from Laos. Here begins a high point of the journey: the train crosses the swirling river on newly laid tracks and continues along the first railway in Laos – an 11 kilometre stretch that leads to the capital, Vientiane. Experience Vientiane and return overnight to Bangkok.
