Best time to travel

The best time to travel to Tanzania is between December and March and July and October.

Due to Tanzania's proximity to the equator the climate is generally warm year round ranging between 25°C to 32°C, there are however regional variations. With two rain seasons, the 'short rains' fall between November and December whilst the 'long rains' between February and into early May.

Highlights

  • The beautiful 'Spice Island' of Zanzibar
  • Exotic mix of many cultures
  • Ancient spice and ivory trading centre

Day 1 - Arrive Zanzibar
This morning transfer to your hotel located in the heart of the Old Stone Town visiting a spice farm en route. The history of Zanzibar would be incomplete without the cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and many other spices which are essential ingredients in a Zanzibari's everyday life. The island's connection with spices goes back to the 16th century when it was an important commodity on the trade routes. Visit plantations just outside Zanzibar town to see the cultivation of the various spices and an opportunity to see the countryside and connect with the locals. Arrive at your hotel which is situated on the waterfront near the dhow harbour and the various Sultans' palaces.
Zanzibar Serena Inn (Prime View room)
