The Aqua Mekong takes guests on a journey between Vietnam and Cambodia along the mighty Mekong River. As well as a striking cultural diversity the waterway also presents remarkable landscapes. The journey takes in flooded emerald forests and bamboo stilt villages, incredible and rare birdlife, awe-inspiring wing tipped pagodas and remote Buddhist monasteries. With a 1:1 staff to guest ratio, nothing is left to chance. Three, four and seven night cruises operate throughout most of the year with itinerary variations depending on water levels.

Life on Board
Embodying the aesthetics of a sophisticated five star hotel, Aqua Mekong has been designed using local sustainable materials and artisanal touches to create welcoming spaces for no more than 40 guests. The convivial lounge and bar is a great meeting place where nightly briefings take place on the coming day’s activities, cultural performances are held and regular lectures delivered. Dining is a highlight of the Aqua Mekong experience with renowned Australian chef David Thompson designing the menus. Meals incorporate elements of both Khmer and Vietnamese cuisine and use diverse culinary traditions from the local river cultures and fresh, locally sustainable ingredients. A good choice of Australian and French house wines is offered. Other facilities on board include a boutique, small gym, outdoor plunge pool, sun lounges, a media room, library and small spa.

Daily Activities
Professionally trained river guides lead guests on daily expeditions aboard comfortable skiffs deep into the Mekong’s tributaries and on foot among Khmer pottery villages, remote mountain monasteries and among the cultural treasures of Phnom Penh. The English-speaking, professionally trained experts grew up along the Mekong River, and know its Buddhist temples, Hindu ruins, Catholic churches and elusive wildlife as well as many of the Vietnamese and Cambodian people they will introduce guests to en route.

The Cabins
The 20 cabins are generous in size (30 sq m) with floor to ceiling panoramic windows and air-conditioning. Eight have balconies with table for two. En suite bathrooms feature large walk in rainforest showers, twin vanity, hairdryer and natural bath amenities. Four sets of interconnecting suites are suitable for families.
