Fiji

Fiji consists of 322 islands, of which 106 are inhabited, the remainder have been left as nature reserves to promote the extreme diversity of the plants and invertebrates: More than 10,000 species, many of which have yet to be studied.

Traditional Fijian tabu approaches coupled with modern conservation methods have allowed vast swathes of ocean to be undisturbed by fishing vessels meaning Fiji's justifiably renowned Coral Reefs and are among the more diverse and intact in the Pacific Ocean. Commitment from the national governments offers outstanding opportunities for conservation in the face of persistent challenges besetting marine communities everywhere.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

May to October is Fiji's dry season when the weather is pleasant and temperatures are milder. November to April is considered the wet season when cyclones and heavy rainfall can be a common occurrence. Fiji has an average temperature of 25 degrees.
