Cambodia

This southeast Asian jewel is rich in cultural heritage and home to the largest Hindu temple complex in the world.

Throughout its complex history, Cambodia and its people have proven their resilience time and again and many poignant reminders remain of the suffering that has been endured.

This is an endearing country worth exploring in depth, from the rustic charm of Phnom Penh, once celebrated as the “Paris of the East”, to the legendary temples of Angkor where sunrise over the ancient Khmer ruins is an unforgettable experience. Discover the vibrant markets, boutiques and eateries of Siem Reap and travel by tuk tuk like the locals do. Cruise past the floating villages of Tonle Sap Lake and down the mighty Mekong. Or take respite in castaway private islands on the south coast and tented luxury in the rainforests of Cardamom National Park.

On an A&K luxury journey to Cambodia you’ll learn about the country’s rich and varied past and experience its contemporary cultural scene with behind-the-scenes encounters, special immersive visits and spiritual engagement. You’ll bed down in handpicked urban retreats, grand hotels and intimate tented camps and have the opportunity to visit and participate in some of A&K Philanthropy’s inspirational community projects which are changing lives.

When to Go

Travelling to Cambodia is at its most comfortable between November and February during the dry season, and in particular for those visiting the coast. November sees water levels at Tonle Sap Lake rise to levels ideally suited to boat tours and the colourful Water Festival takes place late October-November.

The monsoon season from June to October can be rewarding when the air is clearer, rice paddies wonderfully green and lush, skies dramatic and there are intense contrasts of colour around the Angkor temples. There are also fewer crowds and greater value to be had.
