When to Go

Booking a luxury tour between November and March will spare you from Cambodia’s humid monsoon season. From November, water levels at Tonle Sap Lake--Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake--rise to levels ideally suited to boat tours.

The largest and most extravagant event of the year, Cambodia’s Water Festival takes place for three days after the last full moon in October. Upwards of a million locals and tourists gather to watch hundreds of bright-coloured boats race and celebrate the Tonle Sap River changing course, its waters emptying back into the Mekong River.
