Formerly Burma, Myanmar is a beautiful, peaceful and unspoilt country that will surprise and delight any traveller with a fondness for south-east Asia. It boasts an ancient culture, wonderful monuments, friendly people, a strong textile and handicraft tradition, numerous Buddhist festivals and natural wonders such as the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River, Inle Lake and undiscovered areas like Mrauk U on the west coast and beaches in the far south. Although tourist infrastructure outside the main centres of Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan is basic, your A&K guide will ensure your unique experience more than compensates. A&K Myanmar was founded in Yangon in 1997 and is one of the oldest private travel companies in the country. Staff there have a vast wealth of knowledge of each and every destination within the country, and each and every festival taking place.
Be dazzled by countless golden stupas and astonished by the floating gardens of Inle Lake. Luxuriate on the Sanctuary Ananda river cruise on the Ayeyarwady. Participate in an early morning photographic tour of Yangon with a professional photographer. Access a closed room deep within Bagan’s Shwezigon Pagoda to see a thousand year old Buddha. At Inle Lake visit a bustling local market with a family as they stock up on fresh produce before hosting you to a cooking demonstration Shan style and a family meal together.
