From Quito, soar over the eastern Andes to El Coca airport and travel by shared vehicle to the dock. Journey for almost 90 minutes down the river by motorised canoe to your luxury Amazon riverboat. Along the way, take in the first sights and sounds of the Amazon. Following a welcome and safety briefing on board, ease into your Amazon experience with a sunset dinner on the great Napo River, a tributary of the Amazon. Then, step onto terra firma with your nature guide to explore the forest in its moonlit magic hour.
Anakonda River Cruise (Standard Suite) | Meals: LD
Rise with the birds and listen to their many melodies as you enjoy breakfast on the deck. Step into the forest for your first intimate experience with Amazonia. Watch in awe as your talented guides seek out intriguing creatures, from sloths to river turtles – and some you didn’t even know existed. Back on-board the Anakonda, navigate along the most pristine and little explored areas of the Ecuadorian Amazonia. You’ll barely drift a few metres without seeing something remarkable, whether it’s a pink river dolphin, black caiman or ‘stinky turkey’.
Anakonda River Cruise (Standard Suite) | Meals: BLD
Cruise upstream to the Piranha Lake and spy the unique native wildlife, like squirrel monkeys, water monkey fish and the infamous piranha. Later, explore one of the largest islands on the Napo River and count hundreds of Amazonian monkeys. Visit a school on the riverbank and learn how local communities live in this remote corner of the world. At the end of a day filled with animal-spotting and natural phenomena, recline on your sumptuous deck and enjoy nature’s circus from the best seat in the house.
Anakonda River Cruise (Standard Suite) | Meals: BLD
Venture deep into the jungle to the Parrot Clay Licks. Witness firsthand how these mineral-rich pools of mud attract a patchwork of birdlife. Later, learn about the local customs, cuisine and daily life from local Kichwa women at the Sani Warmi Kichwa Interpretation Centre. Navigate along the river to Puerto Pedro and climb the Añangu Tower. From the majesty of your tree overlooking the rainforest’s roof, focus on the whistles and whirrs of the birds and insects. As you begin your cruise back to Itaya, join your new friends for cocktails under a sky ablaze with stars.
Anakonda River Cruise (Standard Suite) | Meals: BLD
Drink in the last of your rainforest experience with a visit to the turtle home, where baby turtles are raised before being released back into the wild. Then transfer to El Coca airport for your onward flight to Quito where your journey ends. Meet your A&K representative to assist you with your onward journey.
