Where once there were only a handful of Indian one-horned rhinoceros, Kaziranga National Park is now home to more than two-thirds of the world’s population. Explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site from the intimate sanctuary of Diphlu River Lodge. Spend a day seeking out rhino, elephant and even the elusive Bengal tiger, in their natural habitat. Then, as the sun sinks below the endless rolling grasslands, listen to the sounds of the jungle from your private balcony.

Journey Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Guwahati – Kaziranga National Park

Welcome to Assam where on arrival at Guwahati Airport be met by your A&K representative who will transfer you privately to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kaziranga’s flat expanses, buffeted by the mighty river Brahmaputra, create an ideal habitat for the one-horned rhino, as well as elephant, the Bengal tiger and an array of birdlife. Find your sanctuary at Diphu River Lodge, where the cottages perch above the river overlooking the park. Spend the remainder of the day easing into your surrounds. Recline on your private thatched balcony and listen to the orchestra of the jungle or venture high above the river to the machan (jungle platform) to catch your first magical rhino sighting.

Day 2: Kaziranga National Park

Venture deep into the wilderness with morning and evening game private game drives. Take your exclusive jeep into the grassland and forest plains to spy water buffalo and wild elephant wading along the sandy banks of the river alongside swamp deer. Count more than 400 species of birds and, if you’re lucky, spot the tell-tale stripes of the Bengal tiger. One thing you’re sure to see is rhino – the park is home to two-thirds of the world's 3,500 one-horned rhinos. Experienced guides will quickly point out any wildlife you might have missed.

Day 3: Kaziranga National Park

Venture to a nearby village for a window into the life of the people who inhabit this ever-surprising land. Later, head back to the Brahmaputra River and board a traditionally carved wooden river boat in search of the rare Ganges dolphin. Drift over the calm waters in perfect tranquillity as you scan for the distinct shapes of this endangered aquatic mammal.

Day 4: Depart Kaziranga National Park

Bid farewell to this enchanting wilderness and transfer privately to Guwahati airport for your onward journey.
