From the bohemian boutiques of the capital to the tiny market stalls of the northwest, you’ll appreciate the treasures of its handicraft traditions. Its natural wonders will amaze from the Wild West landscapes around Salta to the thundering Iguazú Falls and the wildlife rich swamps of Iberá. You’ll be simply spellbound.

Day 1: Arrive Buenos Aires.

Welcome to the cosmopolitan Argentinian capital and your luxurious downtown hotel. This evening enjoy welcome drinks and a briefing with your Resident Tour Director before dinner at Elena Restaurant at your hotel.

Day 2: Buenos Aires | Life, Loves & Labour of Evita.

Discover Buenos Aires in the era of Evita, Argentina’s First Lady from 1946 to 1952 as you stroll through the elegant neighbourhood of Recoleta and wander down Avenida Alvear admiring the beautiful Belle Epoque architecture. Stop by Nuestra Señora del Pilar Church and pay your respects in the Recoleta Cemetery, known for its rich funerary architecture and the famous characters buried here, including Eva Peron.

Continue on to Barrio Norte where the Evita Museum documents her life and celebrates her accomplishments. After lunch admire Teatro Colon, one of the world’s great opera houses, during a private backstage tour.

Time to relax before an intimate private tango experience. In the sultry surrounds of Rojo Tango learn the basics of Argentina’s most famous dance before dinner and a breathtaking avant-garde performance.

Day 3: Buenos Aires |Design Your Day.

  • Take part in a mate tasting workshop and discover the art behind the beverage and its drinking ritual.

This evening, meet a couple of Porteños in their home over local wines and empanadas for illuminating conversation and insight to the Argentinian psyche. Chat about the country’s passion for polo and football, its poets and novelists, its culinary trends, art and politics.

Day 4: Cafayate | High Altitude Vineyards.

A flight north to Salta and onwards to Cafayate. Take in the surreal mountain landscape as you stroll around your luxury vineyard accommodation. And discover firsthand how the Calchaquí Valley’s ancient wellness traditions are still thriving at the Winespa. Toast new surrounds with a glass of Torrontes, the local varietal, over sundowners.

Day 5: Cafayate | Design Your Day.

Get underneath the skin of this hidden gem on a Design Your Day activity:

  • Meet local ceramicists and learn how to make your own inspired masterpiece.
  • Explore the citadel of Quilmes, one of the most important archaeological sites in Argentina.
  • Pedal your way around the Cafayate wineries, tasting as you go.

Dine at Bad Brothers, a cosy local wine bar where extreme altitude wines are centre stage and tasty morsels tempt the palate.

Day 6: Salta | Treasures of the Northwest.

Motor through rugged landscapes today pausing at the impressive Quebrada de las Conchas where you hike into Yesera Canyon and admire the rich pigments layered across the gorge walls. Whet your appetite at an empanada master class in Salta, said to produce some of the best in the country.

Day 7: Salta | Andean Traditions and Colonial Charm.

Spend the morning meandering through Salta’s narrow streets and plazas steeped in Andean tradition. Marvel at the mountains that stand guard protectively over the city. Look for the ornate cathedral in dazzling pink and cream and visit the MAAM Archaeology Museum of High Altitude which houses the famous Mummies of Llullaillaco.

Heading east later today, fly to Puerto Iguazú and privately transfer to your hotel on the Argentine side where you can appreciate views of the awe-inspiring Iguazú Falls and access the area before the crowds arrive.

Day 8: Iguazú Falls | Thundering Cataracts Close Up.

Explore the lush forested Argentine side of the falls. Wander along the network of trails and gaze at the endless sheath of water - some 275 thundering cascades covering a three kilometre stretch. Venture by train for a close-up tour of Devil’s Gorge, the most dramatic of the falls, before embarking on a jeep ride through jungle following the Yacaratiá trail to Port Macuco. Here, a motorboat takes you up the Lower Iguazú River, through rapids into the roaring Garganta del Diablo canyon in the heart of the falls. Tonight your dinner at The Argentine Experience promises more than exquisitely cooked steak paired with free-flowing malbec. Try your hand at making empanadas and dulce de leche filled biscuits while feasting on a wonderful meal.

Day 9: Iguazú Falls | Design Your Day.

Delve deeper into the marvellous jungle surrounds on one of these Design Your Day activities:

  • Engage your inner adventurer on a hike, rappel and Canopy Climb experience through the Iguazú Forest.
  • Visit Jasy Pora village, a Guaraní community, and learn about their ancient traditions and rainforest existence.
  • Get a different perspective on the Falls from the Brazilian side and hike along walkways in the national park.

Day 10: San Ignacio | Jesuit Missionary Ruins.

Drive to a forgotten Jesuit sanctuary, the ruins of San Ignacio, in the jungles of Misiones province. Discover why this mission, one of the oldest in the region, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site as you wander through the rich archaeological remains. Later, learn how powerful rainforest trees are turned into Argentina’s iconic beverage at a yerba mate plantation. Arrive at your hotel, a former cattle ranch, in the heart of one of the largest conservation areas in Argentina.

Day 11: Iberá Wetlands | Rare Wildlife in a Fragile Ecosystem.

Leave behind the fields, pine plantations and marshlands of your ranch for your boat trip along a waterway to Laguna Valle. Look out for caiman, capybara – the world’s largest rodent, marshland deer and otter along the way, not to mention over 350 bird species. Later, picnic on snacks made from local produce as the sun sets and creatures of the night come out to play. This evening a fitting finale to Argentina watching the sun set at a typical asado (BBQ) in the garden of the lodge.

Transfer to Posadas Airport for return flight to Buenos Aires.
