Journey Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Cairns – Daintree Rainforest

Arrive into Far North Queensland and transfer into the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest and your rainforest eco-lodge.

Day 2: Daintree Rainforest

The Daintree Rainforest is believed to be one of the three oldest in the world with unique flora and fauna found nowhere else. A paradise for bird-watchers and nature-lovers, you’ll delve into this secret wonderland visiting stunning Mossman Gorge with your guide and then the Botanical Ark - a privately owned piece of the rainforest which actively practices conservation and promotes the Daintree’s diverse plant life. Meet the owner who will guide you around this inspirational property educating you about the many different plant varieties unique to this area. Lunch on locally sourced fresh produce before returning to your lodge stopping for a treat at the Daintree ice cream factory en route.

Day 3: Cooktown

Head north this morning across the Daintree River to access the Jindalba boardwalk. Meander through the lush lowland rainforest with your guide who will point out the many unique ecosystems and animals indigenous to this region. Fuel up on tea and homemade scones in the rainforest before taking the 4WD-only Bloomfield Track north crossing rivers and climbing mountain ranges with spectacular views. Stop at the Aboriginal community of Wujal Wujal en route and visit the Bana Yirriji Art and Cultural Centre. After lunch visit one of Queensland’s oldest bush pubs, the famous Lion’s Den Hotel established in 1875, and the notorious Black Mountain, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend. Arrive into Cooktown late afternoon and admire the panoramic views of the Endeavour River and the Coral Sea.

Day 4: Lizard Island

Most of today is yours to explore historic Cooktown. Make time to visit the world class James Cook Museum housed in a 19th century former convent and stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River. Chat with a local fisherman on the wharf or sit back and relax. Late this afternoon transfer to Cooktown airport for scenic charter flight to Lizard Island, Australia’s northernmost island resort. Sit back and revel in the pared back luxe of this unique hideaway with its sparkling turquoise water, dazzling marine wonders and 24 pristine beaches to choose from.

Days 5-6: Lizard Island

The next two days are at leisure in this island paradise with a host of activities to choose from. Picnic on your own private beach, hike up to Cook’s Look for breathtaking 360-degree views, enjoy a game of tennis, head to some of the world’s most famous dive sites, motor to the inner reef and drop a line overboard or head to the outer reef on a deep sea fishing expedition (additional charge). The choices are endless.

Day 7: Lizard Island – Depart Cairns

Return by air to Cairns and connect with your onward flight.
