Journey Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Yarra Valley

Make your own way to the Yarra Valley and your luxury mansion hotel, Chateau Yering, located on one of the oldest and most iconic wine farms in the region. Settle into the Oak Room with a cocktail before your three-course welcome dinner, paired with local Yarra Valley wines. Be spellbound by celebrated keynote speaker Dr Lois Peeler, the Executive Director of Worawa Aboriginal College, who will captivate you with stories from her remarkable life. An indigenous trailblazer on all fronts, in June 2014, Lois was made a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia and awarded for her significant service to the Indigenous community as an educator, advocate and role model.

Chateau Yering is a heritage listed icon that exudes elegance and sophistication and provides the perfect base for exploring the region. Graceful interiors accented with marble and antiques reflect the old-world charm of this country retreats rich heritage. Located on 250 acres of stunning Yarra Valley landscape, the property offers breathtaking views across fields and vineyards with 32 distinctive guest suites. Eleonore’s restaurant, named after the mother of one of the Yarra Valley’s pioneers, offers destination dining at its finest where exceptional local produce is the basis for fresh and innovative dishes. You may also like to sit down for a decadent High Tea, a long held tradition at Chateau Yering.

Day 2: Yarra Valley | Discovering Art, History and Epicurean Delights

Embark on a full day discovering the Yarra Valley starting off with a visit to Worawa College, Australia’s only boarding school catering exclusively for Aboriginal girls. You’ll be welcomed by Lois herself who will be with you throughout your visit. The experience starts with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, followed by a dance performance by the students themselves. Then you embark on the Dreaming Trail and the History Walk, which charts the history of the Aboriginal struggle and highlights the achievements of 21 Aboriginal leaders and change-makers. Hear more from Lois about her journey and see for yourself the lifechanging impact the school has on the lives of young indigenous women.

Continue to Tarrawarra Museum of Art, which stands proudly on the award-winning Tarrawarra Wine Estate. Capturing the vision of its founders, philanthropists  Eva Besen AO and Marc Besen AC, who are passionate collectors of Australian art from the 1950s to the present day, the museum’s collection is exceptional. Enjoy a guided tour of their stunning private collection.

Head to nearby Levantine Hill for lunch where a Mediterranean-inspired menu combines the time-honoured traditions of the Jreissati family’s ancestors with a contemporary celebration of local fare. Enjoy a three-course sitting with paired wines introduced by their Head Chef. Your Yarra Valley experience culminates this afternoon with a visit to Domaine Chandon for a private tasting of their favourite sparkling wines. Return to Chateau Yering where the evening is at your leisure.

Day 3: Depart Yarra Valley

Following breakfast, depart at your leisure. Perhaps visit the local famers market or drive past the lavender farms which may be in bloom.
