Journey Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Nelson

Welcome to Nelson, home to alpine wilds and clear rivers, forests, limestone outcrops, rocky coasts and legendary sandy beaches that have called travelers from the all over the world.  

Collect your rental car from Nelson airport and make your way to your private haven for the duration of your adventure.

Nestled on the edge of the Waimea Estuary on Nelson's historic Bronte Peninsula, the lodge is surrounded by its extensive mature gardens, family-run vineyard and apple orchards. This evening enjoy dinner at the lodge, indulging in the best of regional produce and seasonal delicacies before your cycling adventure begins tomorrow.

Day 2: Nelson

Today marks the start of your self-guided cycling adventure. Be transferred to the beginning of the track at Kaiteriteri where you will cycle onward to the village of Mapua. Pedal at your own pace, choosing to stop at one of the many craft breweries or cafes along the way.  Finish at Mapua wharf, and take some time to browse the many studios and galleries, or enjoy a drink at a local wine bar or brewery as the sun sets, before being returned to your accommodation.

Day 3: Nelson

Day two of your cycling adventure will see you exploring heritage locales, journeying from Spooners tunnel to Mapua via Rabbit Island. A leisurely stretch of track, be sure to stop in at the historical villages of Wakefield and Brightwater to explore along the way. Swap your wheels for the waves on the last leg for the day, boarding the ferry from Rabbit Island to return to Mapua, drinking in the coastal views as you cruise. Back on dry land, sip a celebratory drink at the wharf before being transferred back to your accommodation.

Day 4: Nelson

The last day of your cycling adventure takes place in the Upper Moutere region, where you can explore the many boutique wineries, studios and galleries at your own pace. Pedal along quaint roads with rolling hills through quiet countryside, perhaps stopping at New Zealand’s oldest pub for lunch. Plan your own multi-stop winery tour, pulling in for tastings as you explore. Your route finishes at one of the most scenic wineries in the Nelson region, before you are transferred back to your accommodation for your last evening in Nelson.

Day 5: Depart Nelson

After breakfast, the day is yours to enjoy at leisure before returning your rental car to Nelson Airport.
