a boat cruise through the canals of Nyhavn admiring the 17th and
18th century townhouses from the water. Hear about the city’s architectural and
urban development and look out for the famous Christiansborg Palace and the iconic
bronze statue of the Little Mermaid. Disembark at The Royal Danish Opera House,
a unique building designed by Henning Larsen, for a
private tour of the venue and backstage facilities.

Get an overview of Danish history today at the National
Museum with exhibits from the Stone Age through to modern times. Be amazed by
the more than 300-year-old Sun Chariot, as well as wonderful archaeological
finds from the Viking Age. Continue to the Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen’s
famous pleasure garden, where there is time to soak up the festive atmosphere.

This morning go behind the walls of Elsinore’s Kronborg Castle, immortalised by Shakespeare in Hamlet and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The castle’s strategic location overlooking the Baltic at Øresund Sound made Helsingør one of Europe’s most important towns. Afterwards, admire the extensive collection of modern and contemporary art at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art situated in a grand park on the coast with a fine view across the sound of Sweden. Return to Copenhagen with time at leisure.

Explore
Norway’s compact capital starting in the city centre. Wander down Karl Johan
street for a grand view of the Royal Palace and on to the harbour to pause at Akershus
Castle and Fortress. At Aker Brygge, visit the newly opened National Gallery
which houses Norway’s largest collection of paintings, drawings and sculptures.
Seek out ‘The Scream’ and ‘Madonna’ by Edvard Munch, Norway’s famous
expressionist painter. Later on hop aboard a ferry for a cruise of the Oslo
fjord soaking up the idyllic landscape as you pass through narrow sounds,
charming bays and past many islands dotted with small summer houses. The
architectural design of the Oslo Opera House, which resembles an iceberg jutting out of a fjord, is
particularly impressive from the water.

More opportunity to explore with a ferry ride to the Bygdøy peninsula and the impressive Fram Museum which tells the story of Norwegian polar exploration, focusing on three of the country’s greatest explorers; Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup and Roald Amundsen. At the heart of the exhibition is the Fram, said to be the strongest wooden ship ever built. Explore the vessel and step inside the polar simulator to experience the extreme conditions which polar explorers endured. Afterwards, continue onwards to the Historical Museum to see Norway’s largest cultural-historical collections, including exhibitions with impressive Viking artifacts. Back in Oslo, take a guided tour of the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art. The building was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano in the shape of a sail and houses a private collection of modern and contemporary art considered to be among the most significant of its kind in Northern Europe.

Transfer to the train station to board the Bergen
Railway, Northern Europe's highest stretch of track, roughly 100 kilometres of
which runs through wild mountainous terrain. On the scenic route to Myrdal,
breathe in the majestic
landscape before transferring to the Flåm
Railway, one of the world’s steepest. The twisting tunnels that spiral in and
out of the mountains bear witness to the most daring and skilled engineering in
Norwegian railway history. The Flåm Railway is one of Norway's most significant
attractions, travellng through some of the country’s wildest and most
magnificent scenery. On the 20- kilometre-long train ride, peer at rivers cutting
through deep ravines, waterfalls cascading down steep, snow-capped mountains
and tiny farms clinging dizzily to sheer slopes. Arrive into the village of Flåm
and walk to the nearby pier for the breathtaking cruise along the Naeroyfjord
to Gudvangen. Transfer on to Bergen.

Step outside your hotel on a walking tour of Bryggen Wharf, a World Heritage site whose colourful, crooked wooden houses and old Hanseatic wharf are a Bergen landmark. Continue through the city’s charming streets admiring the attractions before a guided visit to the KODE museum whose collection includes masterpieces by Munch, Nikolai Astrup, Picasso, Paul Klee, and J. C. Dahl. Time at leisure to explore the harbour area or take an optional trip on the iconic Floyen Funicular for a marvellous view of the city.

of the Golden Circle, Iceland’s main attraction. Soak up the incredible,
stunning landscapes, powerful geysers and extraordinary waterfalls including
Gulfoss, Iceland‘s most famous which plummets 32 metres down to a canyon below.
At the Geysir geothermal area watch Strokkur as it routinely erupts hot water
and steam in an impressive display. Visit Thingvellir
National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the only place in the world you
can view both the North American and European tectonic plates. See the country’s most sacred site, home of
the oldest existing parliament in the world, the Althingi.

adventure starts at Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe.
Continue to Hraunfossar waterfall, a
series of cascades flowing over moss-covered lava into bright turquoise water.
If conditions are clear, enjoy the spectacular views of Langjökull
glacier in the distance. Take a short walk to Barnafoss, the children’s
waterfall, before continuing to the glacier itself for a snowmobiling
expedition. Step inside the glacier and
discover another world beneath the icecap. Return to Reykjavik and your hotel.
