Journey Highlights

On this unique journey through Tamil Nadu meet some inspiring individuals who are making a real difference fighting poverty and empowering women in southern India. Seen through entrepreneurial projects in Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry, learn how the many issues facing some of the most impoverished communities are being tackled and meet the local women making it happen. Marvel at their strength and enthusiasm as you visit their villages, workshops and kitchens hearing their uplifting stories and joining an intimate culinary experience.

A contribution is made on behalf of every guest travelling on this tour which provides one month’s employment for one knitter at the ‘KOCO’ project and skills training for five women at the ‘Hand in Hand India’ project.

Your Host
A passion for knitting set Danielle on a life-changing path and a mission to make unique hand-knitted garments that are both beautiful and of the finest quality. A visit to Southern India inspired her to set-up a co-op where local women from rural villages transform high quality fibres into highly sought-after garments. Channelling the skills needed has empowered these women, providing them with an income, helping support their families and local communities to make a lasting difference.
