Barcelona’s most iconic hotel, El Palace, was first opened in 1919 by famous hotelier Cesar Ritz and boasts a who’s who of illustrious patrons. Suffused with a quiet air of elegant opulence, the marble columns, Aubusson carpets and crystal chandeliers hark back to another era with service to match. Located in the heart of the city it is surrounded by boulevards, boutiques and the major attractions. There are 125 rooms and suites, some which still preserve the original Roman Baths and antiques. There are two excellent restaurants as well as the brand new romantic Diana’s Garden with a swimming-pool on the rooftop terrace. The Mayan Spa has a wide choice of treatments including the Temazcal prehispanic sauna.
