Bordered by the Black Sea in the west, Armenia in the south, Azerbaijan in the east and Russia in the north, the Republic of Georgia is located on the divide between Asia and Europe.

Famous for its breathtaking scenery, the rugged Caucasus Mountains traverse much of the country. Its capital Tbilisi is a study in old world European charm complete with terraced houses and cobblestone streets. With wonderfully diverse architecture, the country’s monuments include dramatically located Christian Orthodox churches and monasteries, old forts, art nouveau buildings and Soviet Modernist structures.

With a strong agricultural heritage, Georgia is also said to be the oldest wine producing nation on Earth with a cuisine that is fresh and flavoursome. While still an emerging travel destination, Georgia is also a country on the move and its people are warm and welcoming.

When to Go

The best times to visit Georgia are either May, June and September, outside of the summer heat and the winter chill. The lowlands around Tbilisi are particularly hot and humid in midsummer - while the mountains are cooler and drier.
