Costa Rica

This tiny nation is one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet, with rainforests, beaches, volcanoes and mangrove swamps supporting a fascinating variety of wildlife.

Translating from Spanish as the ‘Rich Coast’, Costa Rica is an intoxicating destination in which steam rises from richly roasted coffee to its world-famous cloud forests. This is a land of astounding diversity, where sparkling beaches and rainforests teeming with life thrive under the watchful eye of ancient volcanoes.

Our luxury holidays make the most of Costa Rica’s abundant natural charms. The days are filled with eco-friendly adventures and the evenings spent in the country’s best lodges, surrounded and serenaded by nature’s nocturnal symphonies. Whether you’re searching for colourful birds and sloths in the rainforest’s canopy or exploring Arenal Volcano’s lava fields, Costa Rica is a country that leaves you eagerly asking what’s next – and our team of Abercrombie & Kent travel experts always have an answer.

Blend comfort and adventure in Costa Rica

From Tortuguero’s Caribbean charms to the remote Osa Peninsula and its incredible diversity, Costa Rica is a wild world that prides itself on sustainability and eco-friendly tourism.  Our luxury holidays will have you experiencing the best of the country without sacrificing the environment or your personal comfort, and are perfect for adventure seekers and nature lovers.

Be immersed in Costa Rica’s culture in cosmopolitan San Jose, sipping coffee on the sidewalk and learning about the country’s fascinating history at the pre-Columbian Gold Museum. Perhaps you’ll tackle rapids on a whitewater rafting trip, or visit a Toucan Rescue Ranch to spend time with orphaned sloths and birdlife.

In Tortuguero, you’ll search the rivers for wildlife with an expert guide. Howler monkeys, otters and caimans all call these waters home, while turtles nest on the local beaches for much of the year.

Join a naturalist to explore the Arenal Volcano, set among 500,000 acres of protected land. Walk past a dizzying array of native flora and fauna before soaking in natural hot springs to soothe your muscles.

Described as the most biologically intense place on earth by National Geographic, the Osa Peninsula is a tiny stretch of land that’s arguably the crown jewel of a country rich in treasures. Approximately 2.5% of the planet’s biodiversity is squeezed into this strip of unspoiled rainforest and pristine beaches.

Authentic accommodation to please both the environment and our travellers.

Costa Rica is a champion of sustainability and we aim to stay at luxurious lodgings reflecting this attitude.

Lapa Rios Eco Lodge is one of National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World. It’s set in 1000 acres of nature reserve, the views of the Pacific are unforgettable and it works to support the region’s biodiversity and the local community.

Hotel Grano de Oro, a heritage hotel in San Jose, was voted the best hotel in Central America by Condé Nast and its restaurant is one of the city’s finest.

Nayara Resort offers views of Arenal Volcano, a swim-up pool bar and private gardens with outdoor showers. Almost all of the resort’s produce is organic and locally sourced.
