Australia

A place where superlatives and expectations collide, where an ancient past is inseparable from the modern present with hyper-sophisticated cities rising glittering into the clear blue Antipodean sky.

They say there is no place on earth like Australia.

From its epic landscapes in desert ochres and rainforest greens, framed by glistening oceans, to its unique, indigenous wildlife, and vibrant modern cities teeming with food and wine festivals, Australia’s contrasts are indeed like nothing else you’ve ever seen.

Venture to the Great Barrier Reef, the world's most spectacular coral reef, protecting a coastline draped with untouched tropical forest. In the vast inland deserts, the ancient Aboriginal culture adds a spiritual dimension to the timeless landscapes. The arid Outback in Central Australia is dominated by mighty Uluru, a towering monolith sacred to the traditional owners, and where centuries old rock paintings are waiting to be discovered. Further north to the wilds of Kakadu National Park, see more of Australia’s rugged beauty that will delight even the most experienced nature lover.

Down south, Victoria offers a dramatic coastline along one of the world's most travelled roads, leading to Adelaide with its multitude of churches and the renowned Barossa Valley where the finest New World wines are produced. Wild, mountainous landscapes, colonial architecture and a gourmet food scene provide diverse encounters in Tasmania. Sydney is the city that never fails to enthral, with visits to the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge as well as cutting edge restaurants and fashion houses. Last but by no means least, Western Australia, home to the world's largest fish — the whale shark. Snorkel with manta rays, swim with wild dolphins, walk amongst the tops of ancient trees, sleep under a canopy of stars in the desert, or explore the beehive-like formations of the Bungle Bungles with the help of an Aboriginal guide. A&K’s range of Australian journeys and award-winning luxury accommodation choices will guide you through the scale and diversity of our great land, with a wealth of experiences that feature Australia’s travel highlights and exclusive encounters reserved for pioneering travellers.

Australia Destinations

When to Go

Australia is a year-round destination thanks to its vast size. The peak travel season in the most popular parts of the country is winter. In much of the country – Queensland, the Top End, the Red Centre and most of Western Australia – the most pleasant time to travel is April through September, when daytime temperatures are 19°-31°C and it rarely rains. June, July and August are the busiest months in these areas.

On the other hand, summer is a nice time to visit the southern states - New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia from Perth to the south, and Tasmania. Even in winter, temperatures rarely dip below freezing, and snow falls only in parts of Tasmania, in the ski fields of Victoria and in the Snowy Mountains of southern New South Wales.
