A Relais & Châteaux property, the Hotel Copernicus stands on Kanonicza Street, Krakow’s oldest street that winds its way toward Wawel Royal Castle. The property was originally part of the cathedral chapel and hosted the intellectual and financial elite of Krakow. It owes its name to the famous Polish astronomer Nicolas Copernicus, who was one of the guests of the house. Great care has gone into maintaining the building’s character with modern luxury and conveniences added. The rooms have a cosy elegance, with velvet and dark wood furnishings, and the bathrooms are marbled throughout. Some precious polychrome paintings and inscriptions dating from 1500 can be seen inside the hotel and there is a subterranean swimming pool.
