Comprising of six chalets, each sitting idyllically along the Luangwa River, Kaingo, one of the luxurious accommodations managed by Shenton Safaris, will make you feel at home in the bush and to offer unforgettable up-close wildlife viewing experiences.

Kaingo has access to Shenton Safaris’ unique network of photographic hides. When it comes to getting close – especially with a camera – these fantastic hides offer a diverse range of animal viewing. Guests staying at Kaingo also have the opportunity to sleep out on the Elephant Hide Star Bed. An incredible viewing platform above the Luangwa River is your private treehouse for the night, as you drift off while listening to the nocturnal noises of the river and the African bush.

Meaning ‘leopard’ in the local Nyanja language, Kaingo was named to align with the camp’s long history with these incredible big cats. The name stems from the resident female leopard, Goldie, who liked the idea of Kaingo so much, she took up residence in one of the chalets.

Each chalet boasts its own spacious veranda, en suite, hidden outdoor bathtub, and private deck on the Luangwa River. As you admire riverside views, witness game coming down to drink, basking hippos, aquatic birds, crocodiles fishing, and daily elephant crossings. The large centrally located open-sided “Chitenge” includes a dining area, library, and Kaingo’s renowned thousand-year-old leadwood bar.
