Then browse the Skogar Museum, taking in its collection of early Icelandic tools, utensils, art and personal effects.

This morning, set out to explore the dramatic mountain ridge of Thorsmork (the woods of Thor) aboard a purpose-built Super Jeep. Pause for an open-air barbecue lunch surrounded by volcanoes, glaciers and humming brooks. Then, continue on a scenic drive along the enchanting coastline, stopping to explore waterfalls and black sand beaches along the way.
