Delta to Desert

An A&K welcome to Botswana where you are met and assisted to your light aircraft flight to Selinda Camp, located in the pristine paradise of the 130,000-hectare Selinda Reserve. This wild, unfenced wildlife sanctuary is well known for its large number of predators including lion and African wild dog, plains game as well as huge elephant herds. Before your first game viewing activity this afternoon, settle into your accommodation, featuring just three expansive suites each featuring an indoor en-suite bathroom, a large private veranda with outdoor seating, and a private swimming pool. A two-bedroomed suite is also available.

Selinda Camp | Meals: LD

Setting out at dawn, when predators are active, guides are as keen as guests to discover the riches of each day. Once the sun is high and strong, retreat to camp to relax. Then, as the sun begins to wane, head out late afternoon in search of nocturnal wildlife and the action that comes with and after sunset. Short guided walks from camp and boating safaris are offered as well.

Today take a spectacular helicopter flight which will follow along the Selinda Spillway to the Okavango Delta with its network of lagoons, channels, palm islands and floodplains to your next camp, Duba Plains. Built on an island shaded by large ebony, fig and garcinia trees, Duba Plains along with Selinda is one of only two camps to hold the prestigious Relais & Châteaux accreditation in Botswana. The camp offers five spacious, luxury tents designed to evoke the classic African safari style of the 1920's. Each tent feature a lounge area, beautifully appointed en-suite facilities, and private verandah complete with plunge pool and shaded sala.

Duba Plains | Meals: BLD

Spend two full days at Duba Plains exploring the Okavango Delta. Duba Plains is located in the furthermost reaches of the Okavango Delta in a very private and remote reserve of 30,000 hectares. With its access to large islands, floodplains and marshes, Duba is renowned for its diverse range of wildlife including lion, leopard, stunning birdlife, elephant, lechwe, and buffalo.

Leave the wetlands behind and fly to the remote Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, one of the largest areas of saltpans in the world. Your elegant 1940’s style safari accommodation, Jack’s Camp, is an oasis of style, old-world glamour and comfort in the middle of Botswana’s Kalahari Desert located in a beautiful palm grove.

Spend the next two days exploring a relic of one of the world’s largest super lakes, the Makgadikgadi, which dried up thousands of years ago. Travelling by 4WD quad bike (seasonal), you will be able to explore remote archaeological sites including fossil beds of extinct species. A safari here is a complete desert experience focusing on species unique to the area such as aardvark, gemsbuck and springbuck. It is the only place where you are virtually guaranteed to see the rare and elusive brown hyena and interact with a gang of habituated but wild meerkats.
