Welcome to Tanzania where you are met on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport for your private transfer to your lodge located on the country’s largest coffee plantation.

This morning you are driven (approx 2hrs) to Tarangire National Park, home to one of the country’s largest elephant populations. On arrival at the park entrance gate, you will commence a full day game drive with a picnic lunch before arriving at Lemala Mpingo Ridge late in the afternoon. Your camp is situated on top of an escarpment with sweeping views across the perennial Tarangire River and valley below.

A full day on safari in custom-designed 4x4 vehivles allows time for plenty of game viewing. Other activities on offer include walking safaris and night game drives in search of elusive nocturnal animals.

Depart Tarangire for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Explore a vibrant local market and community on a tuk-tuk ride followed by lunch at Gibb’s Farm, a working coffee plantation in the highlands. Time to stretch your legs before the drive to your charming Cape Dutch style lodge.

Descend into this vast extinct volcano whose towering walls are a natural enclosure for a dazzling abundance of wildlife. See wildebeest, zebra, buffalo and gazelle on the plains, waterbuck, bushbuck and eland in the forest, a healthy elephant population, black rhino, lion, leopard, hippo and flamingo. On return to your lodge stop at a traditional Maasai village.

This morning is a short flight to the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Depending on your month of travel, and the location of ‘The Migration’, A&K will recommend which camp is best suited for your stay.

Enjoy two days exploring the never-ending savannah, where more animals roam than in any other place on earth. The Serengeti plays host to a wonderful spectacle each year – the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra that follow the rains in a search for new pastures and water. Fly to Tarime where you will cross the Kenyan border to Migori and continue on by air to the vast Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya’s finest wildlife spectacle, offering excellent game viewing year-round. The unending landscape hosts some 450 bird species, 95 animal species and all of the great predators, including the country’s largest lion population.

Transfer to the luxurious Ishara Mara located on the Talek River in the heart of the Masai Mara. Stay in one of the nine River Suites which are nestled along the river, or for an incredible night under the stars, Ishara offers the first Star-bed in the Masai Mara (additional cost).

Venture forth for two full days of exploring the open savanna, woodlands and tree-fringed rivers of the Masai Mara, where patience is rewarded with unique sightings such as a leopard retrieving a kill from the upper branches of an acacia, or elephants protecting their young from opportunistic lions. Amid the stunning scenery, watch as Maasai tribesmen traverse the plains or herd goats and cattle. You may also the chance to visit a neighbouring Maasai village.
