Arrive in Luang Prabang and be welcomed by the soothing luxury of your hotel. one of Laos’ purest traditions, a Baci ceremony. Performed by a master of ceremonies, or “Mo Phon”, the Baci is a ritual performed on special occasions for hundreds of years.

Peel back layers of history as you wander the streets of this peaceful, other-worldly city on your walking tour. Start at the National Museum, housed in the former Royal Palace, for the perfect overview of Luang Prabang’s fascinating history. Meet with a former cultural advisor to UNESCO, Francis Engelmann, who will become your expert guide to the city. Wander through the charming lanes and backstreets as your guide shares stories of the city’s heritage and architecture. Head to the far point of the peninsula to marvel at temple Wat Xieng Thong, which dates back to the 16th century. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure.
This evening, challenge locals to a game of “petang”, Laos’s answer to the French game of petanque. Then, head to a popular ‘Sin Dat’ restaurant for a traditional Laos barbecue.

This morning drive out to Kuang Si Waterfall, a beautiful three-tiered cascade known for its brilliant turquoise pools and streams. Walk along a scenic forest trail to see the main falls, or cool off with a refreshing swim in one of the shimmering pools.
Then, spend an interactive morning at Laos Buffalo Dairy, a social enterprise supporting underprivileged farmers with a commercial dairy and production facility. Meet the dairy manager who will lead you on a tour of the farm and teach you about their methods. Get up close with the friendly buffalos, helping to wash and feed the calves. Then, sample the farm’s delicious, fresh produce with a cheese tasting platter.

Learn about Laos’ silk weaving tradition at Ock Pop Tock, an artisan enterprise that specialises in silk dying and handmade fabrics by traditional weavers and textile makers. Meet one of the founders of the enterprise for a fascinating insight into the origins of silk, the weaving process and the meaning of the many symbols and motifs that are featured. This introduction is followed by a hands-on demonstration of silk dying and the various weaving techniques used in Laos. Walk through the weaving area to observe the skilled artisans at work and enjoy the opportunity to discuss their craft.

Venture into the remote jungles of northern Laos for a private, up close and personal experience with Southeast Asia's gentle giants. Committed to conservation, education and elephant welfare, this ethical facility is a safe haven for rescued elephants who spend their days foraging in the forest, splashing in the river or munching on fresh fruits. Cross the Nam Khan river to feed the resident pachyderms, watch them bathe in the river and walk side by side with them through rice fields and meandering creeks. Stop for a picnic lunch in the forest and you can even take a quick dip in the nearby waterfall before getting to know the elephants better with a lesson in elephant movements and gestures. Transfer back to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon.
