Welcome to the safari capital of Kenya! You are transferred to your hotel, set on four lush acres in the peaceful suburb of Langata.

This morning transfer to Wilson airport for your flight to the 90,000 acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Your accommodation is Sanctuary Tambarare, located in the shadow of Mount Kenya overlooking the vast plains of Ol Pejeta. The camp features 10 luxury tents, each including floor to ceiling windows, teak floors, Maasai-inspired artworks, en suite bathroom with walk-in shower, and a private veranda.

This afternoon, head out for a gameviewing activity by open 4x4 vehicle.

The next two days are spent exploring with daily game drives where you’ll search for Africa’s most iconic species. Other activities to choose from include getting up close and personal with the last two northern white rhino on earth and a thrilling night game drive seeking out nocturnal animals such as aardvark, white-tailed mongoose, zorilla (striped polecat), bat-eared fox and perhaps even lion and leopard.

With one of the largest predator densities in Kenya, Ol Pejeta also offers the unique opportunity to track lions accompanied by a ranger. Participation in this activity will help to protect this apex predator, with notes taken reported to the Monitoring Department.

Fly north to the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, 85,000 acres of untamed wilderness surrounded by the Mathews Mountain Range. Here oryx, gazelle and Grevy’s zebra graze by the Ewaso Ng’iro River and other seasonal streams, providing a source of food for prowling lion and leopard, whilst herds of elephant and buffalo roam throughout the area in abundance.

On arrival you will be transferred to Sarara Camp, a luxurious, tranquil camp featuring six tents with open air showers all offering breathtaking views of the Matthews Range.

Spend two full days enjoying a range of activities including morning and afternoon game drives. You can also visit Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, a Samburu community owned and run initiative looking after orphaned elephants aiming to release back to the wild, spend time with one of the local Samburu guides who can teach you tracking skills, or visit the famous 'Sarara Singing Wells', where Samburu warriors chant traditional songs whilst digging for water in dry river beds.

Fly southwest to the boundless plains of the world-famous Masai Mara. Your home here is in a vintage 1920s-style camp that perfectly captures the adventure and romance of bygone safaris. The reserve’s wide-open spaces and rich biodiversity make for effortless gameviewing, particularly in this corner, considered one of the finest areas for wildlife in all of Africa.

Spend the next two full days on safari. The Masai Mara is a photographer’s dream, with plentiful resident lion, elephant, buffalo, cheetah and giraffe. Go on early morning and late afternoon game drives, and in between, perhaps you might like to visit a local village (additional cost). As Cottar’s is located on a private conservancy, you can also enjoy night drives, nature walks and dining in the bush.
