Journey Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Canberra

Arrive in the nation’s capital today and make your own way to the hotel. Join an expert guide for an engaging private tour of the Australian War Memorial’s Commemorative Courtyard. Enter the breathtaking Hall of Memory and gaze upon one of the largest and most captivating mosaics in the world. Pay your respects to the fallen and place a poppy of remembrance on the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier. One of the Memorial’s curators will also take you on a privileged exploration of a unique collection of rare and beautiful letters, photographs and diaries — many over 100 years old. Iconic and rarely displayed artworks by some of Australia’s most important artists of the last century are also exhibited.

Continue on to explore the National Museum’s ‘Biggest’ histories on a private tour with a Museum curator. Think along the lines of Phar Lap’s heart, the first Holden Prototype and the collections’ largest functional object, the Paddle Steamer Enterprise – a beautifully restored paddle steamer on the waters of Lake Burley Griffin.
